Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
This morning we will depart Kampala heading to the southwest through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside and the Kigezi highlands region, then to the Bwindi Forest National Park for our Uganda gorilla safari. This will include a lunch stop in Mbarara and thereafter, we continue through the savannah grasslands with many banana plantations and local long horned Ankole cows, which are indigenous to this part of the country.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking day
I always regard this day to be the most special of all days in the safari. After breakfast, we make our way to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by one of the park staff and thereafter you will meet me with the lead guide who will take you into the forest to find the gorilla family that you will be allocated to. This may take between 2-7 hours round trip depending on the distance that the family you are trekking will have moved today from where they were last seen yesterday to today. Depending on how you feel, you may opt to go out for an evening community walk through the villages very close to the forest.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi Kabale
After breakfast, we will depart Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi Kabale the place for little birds. This day is meant to relax and may be a boat ride on the lake or a short walk around the lake.
Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, we will depart Lake Bunyonyi for Kampala with a lunch stop in Masaka and at the equator for a photo shot and some shopping of souvenirs as you may wish.
