Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning we will start the gorilla and chimpanzee tracking adventure by setting off from Kampala to the western region through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This will include a lunch stop in Mbarara and thereafter we continue through the savannah grasslands with many banana plantations and local long horned Ankole cows indigenous to this part of the country.

Day 2: Game drives and boat safari

We will wake up very early and set off at 6:30am for a morning game drive with the goal of catching sight of the early risers in their natural habitat. We expect to see the Big 4; elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, bushbucks, kobs, giant forest hog, hyenas, waterbucks and many birds. After lunch we will head to the jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes Edward and George. We expect to see number of animals along the bank and a variety of water birds.

Day 3: Morning Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, we will head out for Chimpanzee tracking in the forest found in the Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park. After meeting the Chimpanzees we will return to our lodge for an early lunch and then proceed to Bwindi Forest National Park.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking & Community Walk

We always regard this day to be the most special of all days in the safari. After breakfast we make our way to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by one of the park staff and thereafter you will meet with the lead guide who will take you into the forest to find the gorilla family that you will be allocated to. This may take between 2-7 hours round trip depending on the distance that the family you are trekking will have moved today from where they were last seen yesterday to today. Depending on how you feel, you may opt to go out for an evening community walk through the villages very close to the forest.

Day 5: Depart Bwindi to Kampala

After breakfast, we will depart Bwindi for Kampala with stops in Mbarara and the equator for a photo shot and some shopping of souvenirs as you may wish. This will also mark the end of our memorable and lifetime safari.
