Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
This morning we will start our gorilla safari with a trip from Kampala heading to the southwest through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside and the Kigezi highlands region and then to Bwindi Forest National Park. This will include a lunch stop in Mbarara and then we will continue through the savannah grasslands with many banana plantations and several of the local long horned Ankole cows, indigenous to this part of the country.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking day
We always regard this day to be the biggest of the three days of this safari. So, after breakfast we shall head out to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by one of the park staff and afterwards, you will meet me with the lead guide who will take you into the forest to find the gorilla family that you will be allocated to. This may take between 2-7 hours round trip depending on how long the family you are trekking will have moved today from where it was last seen yesterday. After returning from your gorilla trek, we make our way to Mbarara where we will spend the night and the purpose of this transfer is to make the journey to Jinja shorter on the next day.
Day 3: Transfer to Jinja
After breakfast, we will depart Mbarara proceeding to Jinja. This will include a lunch stop in Kampala and then we will continue to the eastern part of Uganda and then to Jinja. After checking in at your lodge, you will head out for the boat cruise to the source of the River Nile.
Day 4: Full day rafting on the River Nile
After breakfast, your guide will drive you to the rafting offices where you will have a briefing and to make final preparations for the rafting. You will then get on the truck owned by the rafting company heading to the starting point of your adventure on the River Nile. You will then meet your driver-guide on your way back from rafting getting onto our vehicle and then proceed to Kampala getting there later in the evening.
Day 5: Departure
What to do this morning will be determined by the time of your departure flight. And once this is sorted, this will mark the end of your 5 days Adventurous Uganda Safari.
This tour includes;
- One Gorilla trekking permit per person
- One rafting ticket per person
- All fees and fares for the activities mentioned in the itinerary
- Full board accommodation while on safari
- 4×4 ground transportation
