Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
This morning you will depart Kampala heading to the southwest through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside and the Kigezi highlands region then to Bwindi Forest National Park. This will include a lunch stop in Mbarara and thereafter we continue through the savannah grasslands with lots of banana plantations and several of local long horned Ankole cows indigenous to this part of the country.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience & transfer to Mbarara
This day is always regarded as the biggest of all days in the safari. So, after breakfast you will head out to the park headquarters where you have to get to not later than 7:30am. And here you will join other visitors for a briefing by one of the park staff and thereafter you will meet with the lead guide who will take you into the forest to find the gorilla family that you will be allocated to. This may take between 2-7 hours round trip depending on how long the family you are trekking will have moved today from where it was last seen yesterday. And depending on the time you will get back from seeing the gorillas, you will then connect to Mbarara where you will spend a night just to shorten the driving on the next day.
Day 3: Transfer to Jinja
After breakfast, you will depart Mbarara heading to Jinja getting there later in the afternoon. After checking in to your lodge, you will then head out for a boat ride to the source of the River Nile.
Day 4: Full day rafting on the River Nile
After breakfast, your guide will drive you to the rafting offices where you will have a briefing and to make final preparations for the rafting. You will then get on the truck owned by the rafting company heading to the starting point of your adventure on the River Nile. You will then meet your guide on your way back from rafting getting onto our vehicle and then proceed to Kampala getting there later in the evening.
Day 5: Departure
What to do this morning will be determined by the time of your departure flight. And once this is sorted, this will mark the end of your 5 days Adventurous Uganda Safari.
